Centre for Public Policy, Governance and Performance
The Centre has trained several batches of Bangladesh civil servants in the last few years. During 2018-19, as many as149 officials (Joint Secretaries, Directors and Deputy Secretaries) of the neighbouring country participated in four capacity building programmes. The topics covered in the programmes included, good governance, use of technology in governance, and promoting transparency in governance. As part of the programmes, the officials were exposed to a few of the new initiatives being undertaken by the Government of India and Government of Telangana in promoting Good Governance.
The programmes, sponsored by the Ministry of Public Administration, Government of Bangladesh, were well received. One of the faculty members of the Centre, co-directed the Advanced Management Programme with 29 participants from various public undertaking of the Government of India apart from conducting a training programme for the Civil Servants of North Eastern region, which was sponsored by MDoNER. The Centre conducted Evaluation of Population Research Centres (PRCs), covering 14 PRCs in 13 locations. The report was submitted to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Upon receiving the report from the Ministry, the Niti Aayog conveyed its satisfaction. Dr. Vivek Paul, Member (Health), Niti Aayog, called for a meeting and discussed the way forward with the Centre. In the meeting, he appreciated the work done by ASCI and requested the team to prepare an Implementation Road Map for Restructuring and Revival of PRCs in the country. A plan has been duly submitted. As part of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation project, sets of studies as research papers in the Health Sector. Work has also been done in identifying pockets of inequality with respect to access of Health and Education sectors.
