Dr. Saswat Kishore Mishra

Associate Professor

Dr. Saswat Kishore Mishra is an Assistant Professor in the Centre for Health Care Management at ASCI. He holds a PhD in Economics from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur. He received Institutional Fellowship from the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India for carrying out his doctoral work. He is also a recipient of UGC’s prestigious Dr. S. Radhakrishnan Post-doctoral Fellowship (DSR-PDF) for the session 2017-18. Prior to joining ASCI, he was associated with NKC Centre for Development Studies (NCDS) Bhubaneswar, after being selected for Post-doctoral Fellowship in Economics by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), New Delhi for the session 2016-17. His post-doctoral work (entitled – ‘Mining, Vertical Integration and Social Inclusiveness’) aimed to understand the differences in socio-ecological inclusiveness with and without vertical integration and analyze the role and impact of corporate social initiatives therein in the tribal predominant mining regions of Odisha, India. During his stint at NCDS, he undertook research activities, imparted teaching to the PhD Scholars and coordinated in organizing seminars/conferences and workshops. Besides, he has also provided assistance in various research and consultancy projects with the clients – NHPC; Ministry of Consumer Affairs (Govt. of India); NABARD, ACC Limited, and Radhikapur West Coal Mines Limited.

At ASCI, he teaches Basic and Advanced Analytics in Healthcare (Using MS Excel, E-Views, STATA, and SPSS), Basic Economics and Healthcare, Business Research Methods, Indian Macro-economic and Business Environment, Strategic Corporate Social Responsibility, Stakeholder Management, Multidimensional Impact Measurement, and Economics of Natural Resource Management. Besides having competencies in taking sessions on the aforesaid topics, he has published his research works in leading international publishers of repute including Elsevier, Springer, and Routledge (Taylor & Francis). These include papers published in Scopus and ABDC indexed journals including Land Use Policy, The Extractive Industries and Society, and Review of Development & Change. He has also presented papers in conferences/seminars held at globally looked upon institutions including the World Bank Headquarters (Washington D. C., USA), International Institute of Social Studies (ISS), Erasmus University (The Hague, Netherlands), and Utrecht University, (Utrecht, The Netherlands).
